Zhang Shengen holds a Doctor of Engineering degree in Materials Processing Engineering from Central South University (1998). He is currently Member of the Party Committee of Nanchang University, Dean, Professor and Doctoral Supervisor of the School of Physics and Materials, Valid Candidate for Academician Election of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (2021), and Winner of the 5th Distinguished Engineer Award. He has worked successively at China Nonferrous Metal Technology and Engineering Group Co., Ltd. and University of Science and Technology Beijing. He also serves as Consulting Expert in National Key Fields, Deputy Leader of the Low-Carbon Standard Working Group of the National Nonferrous Metals Standardization Technical Committee, Vice Chairman of the China Recycling Resources Industry Technology Innovation Strategic Alliance, and Associate Editor of the international journal Carbon Neutrality Frontiers. He is committed to the R&D and industrialization of green and high-value recycled nonferrous metals, and has presided over key projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, key special projects of the National Key R&D Program, major projects of the National Science and Technology Support Program, major projects of the "Tenth Five-Year Plan" National Science and Technology Tackling Program, and international cooperation projects. As the first completer, he has won 1 Second-Class National Technology Invention Award and 7 First-Class Provincial and Ministerial Science and Technology Awards; as the first inventor, he has won 1 China Patent Silver Award, 1 China Patent Excellence Award, 2 Second-Class Beijing Invention Patent Awards, and 2 First-Class Provincial and Ministerial Patent Competition Awards; he has been authorized 163 Chinese invention patents and 14 US, Japanese and European invention patents; published 8 monographs and 260 papers; participated in formulating 4 national standards and 3 industry standards.
