Personal Information

Dr. Qi Zhang is an Associate Professor and Supervisor for Master's students at the School of Food Science and Technology, Nanchang University. He is also a recipient of the prestigious National Postdoctoral Innovative Talents Support Program.

Dr. Zhang's research focuses on the intersection of microbiology and food engineering, specifically in microalgal biofilm technology, the optimization of high-efficiency photobioreactors, the valorization of agricultural by-products, and the development of microalgae-based functional foods.

His academic excellence has been recognized at the national level. In 2019, he was selected for the National Postdoctoral Innovative Talents Support Program (BX20190147), marking a historic breakthrough as the only recipient in Jiangxi Province that year. Subsequently, he was named a Young Talent in the Jiangxi Provincial Academic and Technical Leader Training Program for Major Disciplines (2022) and was awarded the Jiangxi Provincial Distinguished Young Scholars Fund (2024).

Dr. Zhang has presided over 14 research projects, including 2 national-level and 7 provincial/ministerial-level grants, with total funding exceeding 2.42 million CNY. He has published 26 SCI-indexed papers as the first or corresponding author (including 19 in CAS Tier 1/TOP journals and 17 with an Impact Factor >10) and holds 9 invention patents. He actively serves the academic community as a Guest Editor for journals such as Foods and Frontiers in Microbiology, and as a Young Editorial Board Member for the Journal of Hydroecology.

Beyond academia, Dr. Zhang is committed to translating research into industrial applications. His technologies have been implemented in enterprises like Jiangxi Zhenghe, generating significant economic benefits (6.97 million CNY in profits) and social value. His innovation has earned him numerous accolades, including a Gold Award at the China International College Students' "Internet+" Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition.
