Personal Information

Liu Xiaodong holds a Ph.D. from Wuhan University and has been a visiting scholar at Institut supérieur d’électronique de Paris and Hong Kong Metropolitan University. Addressing major national application needs for high spectral efficiency, massive connectivity, and highly secure communications, his long-term research focuses on theoretical algorithms and embedded-system development for the integration of visible-light communications, sensing, and illumination; semantic communications; and large-model-empowered 6G communications. He has led or participated in seven projects, including projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the EU Horizon 2020 programme, international cooperation programmes, and industry-demand projects, with adequate research funding. He has published more than 50 papers in authoritative IEEE journals and international conferences, including 27 journal papers, in leading international communications journals such as IEEE Internet of Things Journal (IOTJ), IEEE Transactions on Communications (TCOM), IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology (TVT), and China Communications, as well as conferences including IEEE GLOBECOM and IEEE WCSP. He has filed 16 Chinese invention patent applications, 12 of which have been granted. His research results were included in the Visible Light Communication White Paper in the English-edition series of 5G white papers. Two doctoral students under his supervision have graduated successfully, including one who received funding from the China Scholarship Council for a 24-month visiting study. Among his master’s students, two have received the National Scholarship. For three consecutive years, undergraduate thesis projects under his supervision were rated Excellent, and he received the School’s “Most Popular Teacher” honor.
