Personal Information
Wang Xinggang, Ph.D., is a professor and doctoral supervisor at Nanchang University, as well as a Ganzhou Special Professor and deputy director. He serves as Executive Deputy Director of the Jiangxi Provincial Key Laboratory of Advanced Civil Engineering Materials and Green Intelligent Construction, Director of the Nanchang University Research Center for Green Advanced Building Materials and Technologies, Leader of the Innovation Team on Green Advanced and AI-Enabled Engineering Materials, and Director of the Civil Engineering Materials Laboratory. He is recognized as a Leading Academic and Technical Talent in Jiangxi Province, an Outstanding Young Talent of Jiangxi Province, a selected member of the Jiangxi Hundred Talents Program, an Excellent Master's Thesis Supervisor in Jiangxi Province, one of the Top Ten Outstanding Graduate Supervisors at Nanchang University, a Senior Visiting Scholar at University College London (UCL), UK, and ranked among the world’s top 2% most cited scientists (2025). He is also a committee member of the Solid Waste and Ecological Materials Branch of the Chinese Society of Silicate, Vice Chairman of the Expert Committee of Jiangxi Provincial Association of Scattered Pre-stressed Concrete, and a council member of the Jiangxi Provincial Society of Civil Engineering.
He has long been engaged in teaching and research on green advanced engineering materials and technologies, with primary research interests focusing on green/low-carbon/net-zero carbon, intelligent-functional-high-performance, and design-control-optimization of engineering materials. His innovative work particularly centers on green low-carbon transformation, intelligent functionalization, and ultra-high performance of engineering materials. His achievements in microcapsule greening and functionalization, resource recovery and high-value utilization of lithium slag waste, transparent cement-based materials, and high-precision prefabricated concrete components have been successfully commercialized and applied in real-world projects, generating significant economic and social benefits.
As project leader, he has led over 20 vertical scientific research projects, including five National Natural Science Foundation of China projects, one sub-project from the CAS Class C Pilot Project, and eight projects funded by the Jiangxi Provincial Department of Science and Technology. He has also led more than 30 engineering technology development and application projects. His research outcomes won the Third Prize of Jiangxi Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award in 2021. As a key researcher, he participated in one National Science and Technology Support Program, one National 863 Program project, and one sub-project of the National 973 Program, earning three provincial and ministerial-level science and technology awards.
He has published over 150 academic papers as first or corresponding author, with more than 100 appearing in internationally renowned journals. As the first inventor, he has filed over 40 national invention patents, with 20 granted (five of which have been transferred or industrialized). He has authored one monograph, co-edited one textbook, and led the development of one group standard. He led one provincial-level educational reform project at Jiangxi universities. Over forty of his supervised graduate students have received provincial-level outstanding master's theses, provincial innovation grants, national scholarships, and provincial awards. His teaching achievements earned him the First Prize of Nanchang University Teaching Achievement Award (graduate level) in 2022.
He has served as a peer reviewer for numerous prestigious journals, including CPB-E, CCR, CCC, CEJ, JMST, CBM, ACS AMI, JBE, Journal of Building Materials, and Materials Review.
