Guowen Zhang, Distinguished Professor (Second-class Professor), Ph.D., Doctoral Supervisor. Recipient of the Baosteel Outstanding Teacher Award, a provincial/ministerial level talent. Consecutively selected a Clarivate Global Highly Cited Researcher (2020-2023) and an Elsevier Highly Cited Chinese Researcher (2021-2025). Listed in the World's Top 2% Scientists by Stanford University for both career-long and single-year impact (2022-2025). Permanent member and academic leader of the State Key Laboratory of Food Science and Resources at Nanchang University. Serves as an evaluation expert for: National Science and Technology Awards, National Natural Science Foundation of China projects, National Key R&D Programs, China Engineering Education Professional Accreditation, and the Ministry of Education's Undergraduate Education and Teaching Review and Evaluationt. Host of a National First-Class Undergraduate Course. Academic achievements
He has presided over 30 national and provincial/ministerial-level research grants, including the projects from the National Natural Science Foundation of China (including General Programs), the Doctoral Program Foundation of the Ministry of Education (for Doctoral Supervisors), State Key Laboratory Projects, Jiangxi Provincial Major Science and Technology Projects, Key Projects of Jiangxi Provincial Natural Science Foundation, and Jiangxi Provincial Science and Technology Support Programs. He has published more than 390 papers in renowned domestic and international academic journals such as Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, Food Chemistry, Food Hydrocolloids, Food & Function, and Food Research International. Among these, over 190 papers are indexed in SCI, with 12 ESI Highly Cited Papers and 4 ESI Hot Papers. His h-index is 56, and his Web of Science publications have been cited more than 10,000 times in total. He is the lead instructor of the national first-class undergraduate course Food Analysis and has received numerous awards, including three National Teaching Achievement Awards (Second Prize), four Jiangxi Provincial Teaching Achievement Awards (First Prize), four Jiangxi Provincial Teaching Achievement Awards (Second Prize), one Jiangxi Provincial Natural Science Award (Second Prize), two Jiangxi Provincial Natural Science Awards (Third Prize), one Jiangxi Provincial Higher Education Scientific and Technological Achievement Award (Third Prize), and one Ji'an City Scientific and Technological Progress Award (Third Prize). He has also served as the chief editor of five textbooks.
In recent years, under his supervision, more than 20 graduate students have received the National Scholarship for Graduate Students, five have received the Jiangxi Provincial Government Scholarship, and over 20 have been awarded the title of Outstanding Doctoral or Master's Thesis in Jiangxi Province. He has been repeatedly recognized as an Outstanding Supervisor for Doctoral (Master's) Theses in Jiangxi Province and an Outstanding Graduate Supervisor at Nanchang University. Additionally, he has received honors and awards such as the Nanchang University Teaching Excellence Award, "Outstanding Individual in Scientific Research", "ZTE Development Teaching Award", "Jiangling Teaching Award", "Weilin Teaching Award", and "Outstanding Individual in Teaching and Education".
