Personal Information

Yunpu Wang, professor and doctoral supervisor of the College of Food Science & Technology, the deputy director of the Office of Science and Technology, and the executive deputy director of the Ministry of Education Engineering Research Center for Biomass Conversion at Nanchang University. He also serves as the deputy director of both the Expert Committee on Innovation and Entrepreneurship of the China Association of Technology Entrepreneurs, and the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education Committee of the China Association for Promotion of Science & Technology and Finance. He has been recognized with several prestigious accolades, including the Chang Jiang Young Scholar award, and consecutive selections to key provincial talent programs such as the Jiangxi Provincial "Double-Thousand Plan" and the Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars of Jiangxi Province. He is also awarded as the Jiangxi Provincial Youth May Fourth Medal, the Gold Medal Professor, and the Outstanding Mentor for the China International College Students’ “Internet+” Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition.

Professor Wang's primary research focuses on the microwave-assisted thermochemical conversion of biomass for the production of liquid fuels and high-value chemicals. Up until 2025, he has secured significant research funding as the principal investigator, including 2 projects under the National Key Research and Development Program of China, 3 projects from the National Natural Science Foundation of China, 1 international cooperation project from the Ministry of Science and Technology, 13 provincial-level projects, and 6 industry-sponsored technology transfer projects. His research excellence has been acknowledged with the Second Prize of the Jiangxi Natural Science Award and the Jiangxi Youth Science and Technology Award. He has an outstanding publication record, with 103 SCI papers published as the first or corresponding author. Among these, 65 are in JCR Q1/TOP journals, including 1 in a Nature Portfolio journal, 6 ESI Highly Cited Papers, and 1 Hot Paper. His publications have garnered 9,694 total citations, resulting in an H-index of 59. He has been consecutively listed among the "Top 2% of Scientists on Stanford List" (both for career-long and single-year impact) from 2021 to 2025. He holds 23 authorized patents as the first inventor, including 1 international patent.

Furthermore, as the primary advisor, Professor Wang has guided over 300 students in China's top three influential university disciplinary competitions. Under his mentorship, teams have won 20 national-level awards, including 3 National Gold Prize in the China International "Internet+" Competition, 1 National Grand Prize and 2 National Gold Prize in the "Challenge Cup" Competition, alongside 32 provincial awards. He is recognized as the first and only primary advisor nationwide to have guided student teams to the highest honors in all three major disciplinary competitions.
