Dr. Yichun Ding is a Distinguished Research Fellow and doctoral supervisor at the School of Physics and Materials, Nanchang University. He obtained his Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from the South Dakota School of Mines & Technology (USA) in 2018, worked as Associate Professor at the Fujian Institute of Research on the Structure of Matter, CAS (2018-2024), and conducted post-doctoral research at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (2021-2023, with Prof. Zijian Zheng). He joined NCU in 2024. His research focuses on high-performance fibers, bio-interface materials and flexible electronics.
He has been successively selected into the Provincial Overseas High-level Talents Program, CAS “Spring Bud” Young Talents, Hong Kong Scholars Program, Fujian Provincial High-level Talents (Category B), NCU High-level Talents Program, Jiangxi Provincial High-level Talents, and Jiangxi Ganpo Excellence Program. He has been listed among the world’s top 2 % scientists for five consecutive years.
He has directed two projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), one Jiangxi Provincial NSFC project, one Fujian Provincial Industrial Guidance Project, and one fund of the China Fujian Innovation Laboratory for Opto-electronic Information Science & Technology, and participated in projects funded by NASA, NSF-USA, NSFC, CAS Instrument Development, and CAS International Cooperation. To date he has published >100 peer-reviewed papers (12 ESI highly-cited, >7 000 citations, h-index 42) in journals such as *Chem. Rev.*, *Chem. Soc. Rev.*, *Prog. Polym. Sci.*, *Matter*, *Adv. Mater.*, etc., authorized 6 patents (2 US, 4 CN), and contributed 2 book chapters.
He serves as Associate Editor of *Engineering Reports* (Wiley), Youth Editorial Board Member of *Soft Science*, *FlexMat*, *BMEMat*, *BME Frontiers*, *Brain-X*, *Materials Review*, Guest Editor of *Sensors*, expert panel member of the 14th Five-Year National Key R&D Program, peer-review expert for NSFC, evaluation/expert for Fujian & Jiangxi S&T programs and for the Ministry of Education postgraduate education assessment, and referee/arbitrator for >70 SCI journals.
