Zhang Jian, a member of the Communist Party of China, holds a Ph.D. in Ecology from Zhejiang University. He is a university-appointed associate researcher and master's supervisor at Nanchang University, the chief expert of the "Science and Technology Backyard" program under the China Association of Agricultural Science Societies, and a Class D high-level talent recognized by Jiangxi Province. His research primarily focuses on agroecology and molecular ecology, with a dedication to exploring the mutualistic mechanisms among crops and the conservation and utilization of agricultural genetic resources. His research areas mainly include integrated rice-fish farming, as well as the industries of Torreya grandis and oil-tea camellia. He has published 18 academic papers, including 11 SCI-indexed papers, and holds 3 national invention patents. He has led 7 provincial-level or higher research projects, including those funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the Jiangxi Provincial Natural Science Foundation, and the China Postdoctoral Science Foundation.
Through the transformation of scientific research achievements, he has provided technical support for the oil-tea camellia industry and integrated rice-fish farming in multiple provinces such as Jiangxi, Zhejiang, and Jiangsu, leveraging science and technology to promote industrial revitalization. His technology transfer accomplishments were selected as a typical case of targeted assistance by provincial universities in the Sixth Session of the Ministry of Education. His technical support efforts were also featured in the Third Session of "Bright Days—The True Essence of Youth," a national compilation of exemplary stories of college graduates in employment and entrepreneurship. China Central Television’s News Broadcast featured his story in two special reports: "Devoting Youth to the Motherland with Struggle—Zhang Jian: Ecological Science Boosts Rural Revitalization" and "Small Oil-Tea Camellia Writes a Big Chapter in Rural Revitalization." His achievements in translating scientific innovation into frontline agricultural assistance have also been covered by mainstream media such as China Education News, Xinhua News Agency, and the Study China platform. He is committed to nurturing new talent for the agricultural industry and has guided student teams to participate in major innovation and entrepreneurship competitions such as the "Internet Plus," "Create Youth," and "Challenge Cup," winning 3 national gold awards, 2 silver awards, and 4 bronze awards.
