Hongwen Chen, Ph.D., is a Research Fellow at the Institute of Tourism Research. His research focuses on tourism economics, sustainable tourism development, rural tourism, and red tourism.

Dr. Chen has served as Principal Investigator for one Jiangxi Provincial Social Science Fund project, one Jiangxi Provincial Humanities Fund for Higher Education project, one Jiangxi Provincial Education Science Planning project, two teaching reform projects, and two university-level research projects at Nanchang University. He has also participated in seven additional research projects. He has secured 150,000 RMB in funding from industry-sponsored research projects.

Dr. Chen has authored over ten papers in SSCI/SCI/CSSCI/CSCD-indexed journals and published one academic monograph. His consulting reports have received affirmative endorsements from senior officials of the Provincial Party Committee and Government. He has supervised students to win over ten awards in competitions such as the National College Students' Red Tourism Creative Planning Competition and the College Students' Innovation Competition. He has received multiple honors, including "Students' Favorite Teacher" by the College of Tourism and "Outstanding Individual in Enrollment and Employment" by Nanchang University.
