Chen Baokui is an associate professor at the School of Engineering Construction of Nanchang University, a Ph.D., a doctoral supervisor, and the leader of the Structural Seismic and Simulation Team. His research primarily focuses on seismic motion of submarine environments and the seismic resistance of marine structures, seismic resilience of long-span bridges, seismic isolation and energy dissipation of building structures, earthquake resistance and energy efficiency of rural houses, development and environmental performance of green building materials, and stress analysis and seismic performance of anchor bolts.

Currently, he is leading three projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, three projects funded by the Jiangxi Provincial Natural Science Foundation, and more than ten other provincial and ministerial-level projects and technological service projects. He also leads one graduate education reform project in Jiangxi Province, one education reform project under the Ministry of Education, and four university-level teaching reform or ideological and political education projects. As the first contributor, he has won two second prizes for university-level teaching achievements, along with other teaching awards and nominations for excellence in teaching quality. He has published nearly 70 papers in domestic and international journals, including nearly 40 SCI and EI indexed papers as first or corresponding author, authored two monographs and textbooks, holds over 30 authorized patents, utility models, and software copyrights, and has participated in the completion of five provincial-level construction methods. In 2022, he was recognized as an Outstanding League Member by the Jiangxi Provincial Committee of the China Democratic League, and concurrently serves as a corresponding reviewer for National Natural Science Foundation projects, an academic thesis reviewer for the Ministry of Education, a Jiangxi Provincial Science and Technology Commissioner, an executive committee member of the Jiangxi Civil and Architectural Society’s Committee on Seismic and Disaster Mitigation for Construction Engineering, as well as an innovation expert for Jiangxi Province employees and an expert for high-tech enterprise evaluation. He also serves as the academic editor-in-chief of the Journal of Nanchang University (Engineering Edition), editorial board member and youth editorial board member for journals such as Urban Roads and Flood Control, Journal of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, Municipal Technology, and as a reviewer for over 40 renowned journals including Engineering Structures, Ocean Engineering, Journal of Building Engineering, Soil Dynamics and Earthquake Engineering, Engineering Mechanics, Vibration and Impact, and Earth Sciences.

He has guided students to win the second prize and Excellent Instructor award in the World University Bridge Design Competition (2018), third prize (2019); the Mao Yisheng Public Welfare Bridge - Small Bridge Engineering Design Competition: Social Practice Award (2022), Social Practice Awards (2023); "Internet+" University Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition: provincial award finalist in the industry track (2021); National University Student Structural Design Information Technology Competition: one special prize, two second prizes, four third prizes; as well as more than 40 awards in various national and provincial competitions. Currently, there are three national-level, one provincial-level, and eight university-level student innovation and entrepreneurship projects underway, along with more than ten student scientific research training projects.
