He has long been engaged in teaching and research related to civil engineering and engineering mechanics. His work focuses on seismic performance analysis and evaluation of building structures, seismic design methods, seismic testing, earthquake disaster simulation technologies, building safety assessment, and reinforcement methods. He has developed a distinct research direction and team specializing in seismic studies of rural buildings. He has led multiple national and provincial-level research projects, published over 50 academic papers, and obtained 5 authorized patents. He serves as a reviewer for various national and provincial funding programs and as a peer reviewer for international journals such as Structures and Engineering Structures. He has supervised more than 30 graduate students.

In education, he has led 6 provincial and university-level teaching reform projects, published 4 educational reform papers, taught 2 provincial-level elite courses, and authored one textbook. He has received the Nanchang University Teaching Quality Award over 10 times, the 2021 National Xu Zhilun Mechanics Outstanding Teacher Award from the Chinese Society of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics, and the National Zhou Peiyuan Mechanics Competition Outstanding Advisor Award, among others. He has guided students to win dozens of awards in national and provincial-level competitions.
