Research Interests

I. Plant Ecology & Vegetation Dynamics

  • Focus: Investigating the formation mechanisms of plant diversity and vegetation patterns at the watershed scale.

  • Key Problems Addressed: Understanding the drivers and spatial-temporal dynamics of key vegetation communities in Jiangxi Province. Systematically classifying regional vegetation to elucidate distribution and biodiversity characteristics.

  • Methods/Techniques: Large-scale systematic vegetation surveys; integrated use of numerical classification and expert-based approaches for vegetation typology; development and management of regional forest and wetland vegetation databases.

II. Ecological Restoration & Land Degradation

  • Focus: Developing near-natural restoration technologies for degraded ecosystems.

  • Key Problems Addressed: Restoring damaged landscapes, with emphasis on post-mining sites and degraded wetlands, to enhance ecological functionality and biodiversity.

  • Methods/Techniques: Multi-objective wetland restoration planning; application of nature-based solutions and near-natural techniques for habitat rehabilitation; field experiments and long-term monitoring of restoration outcomes.

III. Ecological Remote Sensing & Carbon Sequestration Modeling

  • Focus: Quantifying ecosystem carbon stocks and fluxes to support climate change mitigation.

  • Key Problems Addressed: Estimating and modeling carbon sequestration potentials across major land-use types (forests, wetlands, farmlands, aquaculture) within the Poyang Lake Basin.

  • Methods/Techniques: Integration of remote sensing (RS) data with ground-truthing; development of carbon accounting and estimation models; spatial analysis of ecosystem services.

IV. Conservation Planning & Sustainable Land Use

  • Focus: Reconciling regional ecological conservation with sustainable land and resource utilization.

  • Key Problems Addressed: Optimizing the planning and management of protected areas to improve conservation effectiveness. Providing scientific foundations for sustainable landscape management.

  • Methods/Techniques: Spatial planning and systematic conservation planning tools; ecological risk assessment; interdisciplinary research integrating ecological data with socio-economic factors.

V. Innovative Ecology Pedagogy & Science Communication

  • Focus: Enhancing ecology education and public understanding of ecological science.

  • Key Problems Addressed: Translating complex ecological research into effective teaching and科普 (science communication) materials for diverse audiences (students, public).

  • Methods/Techniques: Development of research-oriented and popular science teaching modules; integration of scientific findings, internet tools, and resources into curriculum design; pedagogical research on experiential learning in ecology.
